Dr. Afsana is a Professor at the BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health and the ex-Director of the BRAC Health Programme, where she was responsible for the rural and urban Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Programme in BRAC. Her portfolio within BRAC covers a wider spectrum of health, nutrition and population sectors reaching 120 million people through community reach. She played a critical role in policymaking/planning and programme design/implementation, particularly in reproductive and sexual health, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health and nutrition and m-Health at organization, national and global levels. Dr. Afsana has authored two books on childbirth practices and published research papers in journals, books and monographs. She is a member of the Bangladesh Obstetric and Gynecological Association and a board member of the Canadian Coalition for Global Health Research.
